The Early Modern Underground is an informal (sometimes very informal) collection of academics at various stages in our studies. I teach early modern Brit Lit (among other subjects) at a state school in Pennsylvania, and I am particularly fascinated by non-Shakespearean drama.
My intention here is to proselytize encourage people to explore other early modern literature besides Shakespeare. O brave new world, that hath such literature in it! Damn it–you can’t get away from Shakespeare even here! (Just kidding. It’s okay, really; I like him too.)
My ideal blog is one where the blogger is not simply publishing her or his ideas in a lecture format that is essentially independent of any comments but one that starts a discussion, but I’m not sure exactly how to achieve that yet, being pretty new at blogging.
Also, no matter what my teacher said about me in first grade, I do accept constructive criticism, so if you have suggestions that would help make this a better community, please let me know.
Thanks for stopping by!
